"He teaches well and he enjoys it"
"I believe that compared to other teachers, this teacher is the most fair to reasoning and info related to the real world. Prerequisites are that you know something about resistors and circuits prior to this class (like taking py208 a semester ahead instead of with this course)."
ECE211"He is the nicest proffesor I have ever had. He is really concerned that every single student understands the material. He goes slowly and waits to make sure everyone is keeping up. He will go out of his way to help you, in and out of class. Even though I hate circuits, he was my best"

Dr. Bradley
ECE212
Fall97 "Dr. Bradley is definately in a class by himself. Since graduation from College He has spent his life working at IBM. He is one of the original 12 people to develop the Home Computer, and also delivered the first to Microsoft. One input (by rumor only) is that he developed the idea of
to reboot a machine from the keybd. All this time at IBM has formed Dr. Bradley into quite a knowledgeable person. He knows his stuff, and shows his students in the way he teaches his class. He is very smart, and teaches at a quick rate, expecting his students to understand. Be warned of his tests. They are designed to be very simple, but the smallest error will result in total, or near total, loss of credit. His justification for this is that if you get 3/4 of the problem right, you haven't shown that you can do the whole problem, and in the "real world," you would have missed the problem. He is very unfair in his grading policies on testing, and believes in NO partial credit. Dr. Bradley will do his best to help you outside of class, but be prepared for anything he may ask. He will ask questions of you to be sure you know a bit about what you are asking help for. Also, he moves fast, which makes it very hard to get to class when you don't feel like going. The class is pretty much a lecture of facts, and nothing more. I would recommend strongly taking another professor...."

Paul D. Franzon
ECE342
Design of Complex Digital Systems.
"Dr. Franzon is one of the best teachers I have had. He gives excellent examples and even tells jokes periodically in class. He is always willing to change due dates and set back some tests (and even give make up tests) to benifit the class. He has a repuation of curving down grades at the end of the semester, but with all the breaks he gives you with the assignments during the semester, I think that it would be resonable. He is very personable, and very knowledgable of the material."
Spring99 "My grade in the class was A.
Dr Franzon is quite knowlegdeable about the class material. He provides you best support to do well in your labs, hws and final. He has good sense of humour and always encourage you to aim for higher education. He also sends you job oppurtunities which are very helpful for graduating students."

"Keep as far awayfrom him as possible. Avoid any contact, he's terrible as a teacher and very notorious in it too!"
"Lousiest prof I've come across. Guaranteed to drain any interest you may have in the subject. Don't expect anything good from him!"
"Never take CSC 517 under him unless you do not need him to pass the course !. He has absolutely no capability as a teacher and has minimal knowledge in his field. Amazing they tenured him !!"
"Yuck! I don't even want to think about him! take a course with him, & you'll feel the same... -GUARANTEED!"
"I took the class in Fall 1999. I give this teacher a 0 out of 4, my grade in the class was B.
If you want to learn anything, don't bother with this guy. You don't have to do any work to make a B though. Only thing I learned is that Smalltalk sucks. "

T. H. Glisson
ECE301
Linear Systems.
"Dr. Glisson gives very representative lectures. He is very strict about starting class on time, and if you are late, you are bound to miss something. He doesn't talk too loud, so it's to your advantage to get to class on time and get a good seat. His tests are somewhat difficult, but they are representative of the notes."
Spring98 "Most students find his class very frustrating. (Especially Computer Engineers). His tests do not relate to his lectures or the homework. He is a soft and monotone speaker. It is difficult to learn anything practical in this class and you are not rewarded for your work. He did not allow us to turn in our calculations for partial credit on the last test or final exam. Also, most tests were curved about 30 points to get a reasonable class average. His saving grace is that he seems to be a pretty nice guy, but he just doesn't teach well."
Spring99 "My grade in the class was C.
I think Glisson is a good teacher. He IS quite soft spoken but his homework and lectures are well represenative of the material on the tests. However, doing and understanding the homework is a necessary part of the class. He gives very accurate outlines of his tests and tells you exactly what he expects you to do. Working everything out in symbols before you plug in numbers is constantly stressed as is "dimentionally correct expressions" However if you get through a problem like he wants you to, the partial credit is generous even if you make basic algebra and computational errors."
Spring99 ece301 "My grade in the class was B.
Great professor, very interesting if you listen to him. Knows everything there is to know about communications and signals. Tests are not given partial credit, but as long as you can *visualize* what's going on you'll do fine. Class is more about visualizing than math. Do the homework and Visualize signals!!!"

Dr. Grainger

Fall97 "Very good lecturer. Very hard tests, but he curves tests if the class average is too low. Cares about his students, but it is still a very difficult class."
Fall97 ECE211 "Only an average lecturer, but really cares about students. Good sense of humor makes class enjoyable."
Spring99 ECE211 "My grade in the class was A+.
Dr Grainger is a very dedicated professor. He walks you through the class material slowly and carefully. He cares a lot about his students' understanding of the class material as well as their grades. Besides, he is a very nice gentleman."

Wesley Snyder
ECE212
"Dr. Snyder is an ill-prepared, boring, and scatter-brained lecturer. He rarely makes his own tests, but when he does, they are completely random and poorly written. Although I made an A+ in his class, it had nothing to do with his teaching. I learned the material because I happened to have an excellent lab instructor and by doing hours of homework sets. The only upshot is that Dr. Snyder wants to give you a good grade to make himself look better as he advances his career. Unfortunately, he has accumulated so many job titles that he has little time left to worry about teaching."

Mark White
ECE218
Computer Organization and Microprocessors.
"His class is fairly easy if you learn from the book(I never go to class), but he's a pretty flakey teacher. He rambles on tangents a lot and seems to contradict himself sometimes. He grades tests pretty strictly, but I think he curves them, too. He covers little useful information and is vague in assignments. Once, he spent 15 minutes of an exam period alphabetizing the class for appearent reason."
"He seems to be an okay guy who is generally concerned with students learning from his class but he tends to ramble about things which may be useful once we are all engineers but aren't really significant now. The ramblings take valuable time away from his lectures and leaves the student on his own to prepare for the test. He posts his notes on the web but he uses a format which takes up so much memory you can't even print it out. In class when he does cover material he never emphasizes the things which will comprise a majority of the test. Its very frustrating and unfair to receive very poor lectures and then get slammed with a difficult exam. This Professor will cause you to drop your average and leave you feeling as though you know absolutely nothing about assembly language even though you ace the labs and understand the textbook."
Fall 97, ece218 - "Dr. White is obviously a brilliant man that knows his discipline. However, he is sadly a pitiful teacher with no seeming ablility to impart knowledge of this material to students. He teaches from a platform of assuming that all students are excellent programmers, without any consideration to the fact that this is tediously difficult course material. WARNING: Stay away from his section. To improve his course, Dr. White should give less involved programs and routines so people can learn the basics without being overwhelmed. His methods invite discouragement among students."
Spring98, ece218 -"This teacher is obviously knowledgable, but he CAN NOT convey what he knows to his students. First of all, he doesn't even use the book except to give a few occasional homework problems, and even then, he posts the answers to the homework on the web before they are due. So basically you spend $50 on a book which won't help you for the class. Second, the material on his tests are completely different from what he teaches in class. Third, the lab assignments don't even correspond with what he teaches in class. For anyone that has to take ECE 218, I would STRONGLY suggest you avoid his section. Even if it means having to put your graduation date a semester off, it's well worth it, because you'll probably have to take it over anyway"
