"He looks like my Uncle Ray! Also, he's funny and makes class intesting. His test are very fair and he gives great extra credit assignments. What more could you ask for?"

"She's great. I enjoy her class a lot. There's a lot of writing, so if you hate writing, I don't recommend taking her class. But if you do, you'll love it."

Class : ENG111, I took the class in Fall1998. I give this teacher a 0 out of 4, my grade in the class was C.
She is from Chapel Hill...need I say more. A very poor teacher. Got a C in her class and A in all other English classes since then. Avoid her at all costs.

Fall98 "My grade in the class was B-.
Lots of short readings you can do in about 30min. I did not devote alot of time to his class and made a B-. Essays are open topic...you choose the topic to write about. Lots of class discussion and overall excellent teacher. RECOMMENDED!!!!!"

Dr. Harrington-Austin
Eng 111

Fall98 "My grade in the class was B+.
Dr. Harrington-Austin is a wonderful teacher. She is strict with what she wants in a paper but helps you learn to become a better writer. She is very understanding and envolves the class in day-to-day group discussions which keep the class interesting, even the Dr.'s manner of speaking is inspirational."

"Funny, informative, can relate what you're reading to a million and one other books, philosphies, treaties, and ideas. He digresses and wanders quite a bit but it is always informative and he'll usually make you laugh. He appreciates a sharp mind and treats you like you're just as smart as he is. He's a very likable man wiith a razor sharp wit and a brain you really admire."

Michelle Q. Hill

Spring 98 "Don't take this class with Professor Hill. You will lose. The instructor has no concrete grading policy, grades without mercy, and the cousework is not beneficial to any college education."

Ed Hoffman

Fall97 "really cool; generous in receiving late papers"

Dawn Keetly
ENG 226

Eng226 "Dr. Keetly has to be one of the best English professors I have ever had. If you want to get an easy A, look elsewhere. But if you truly want to take a meaningful course on literature and get a lot out of it, you'll be glad you took her."

Anita Kerr

Fall 97 "A great teacher! She is not only helpful in planning for assignments but also grades quite fairly. She has four monthly assignments and one final exam. She was quite lively in class and even though her class is a 8:05 it was not something that would make you wish you never left bed."

"She is a decent teacher, but she can be pretty monotonous sometimes. A good grader for the most part and she only asks for 2 papers and three tests."

Linda McFadden

"She gives easy tests but will rip you to shreads on her papers. She brings religion into everything and treats you like you are a moron..."

Dr. Carmine Prioli

Spring98 "My grade in the class was A.
He covers a lot of material and expects you to know all of it. Do not take him unless you are willing to devote a lot of time to going over the material on your own."

Wanda Ramm
ENG 111

"Class : ENG111, I took the class in Fall, 1999. I give this teacher a 4 out of 4, my grade in the class was A.
Ms. Ramm is an excellent teacher who really wants to help you learn. She won't hesitate to stay long after class to explain something or help on a paper. She isn't afraid to give her opinion, but respects others' opinions. No tests, but papers instead."

Linda Rudd
ENG 333

Spring98 "My grade in the class was A.
I really dreaded taking Technical Writing because I had heard horrible things about the class, but this professor made the class bearable, and I learned a great deal. Ms. Rudd is a *wonderful* professor! She has a background is science, and communicates very well with the science majors in her class. She cuts through the BS and tells you what is important and what you need to know. There are 6 projects in the class, and they closely mimic the process of submitting scientific research for publication. She is always willing to critique a rough draft of the projects before they are due. When you leave her class you are much better prepared to formally present your research. She is just a really great prof, and I highly recommend taking her for ENG 333."

Dr. Laura Severin
ENG 112H

"Wonderful professor. She teaches writing as a tool for all major areas (humanities, sciences, etc.) Only required 4 five page papers and had no exams at all. Easy to get an A and she writes great references as well!"

"I got an A in the class. Best english teacher ever. I swear my life to it. She'll let you speak your mind and the topics we discuss are interesting. This class is more of a discussion. I don't know anyone who would say she is a bad teacher -- If they do think she's a bad teacher, I hope they burn in hell."

"She is an amazing person- very easy to like and get along with. If you are interested in linguistics at all, this is a supreme class."
Finnaly a word about the higher level english teachers: "Just for your informations the higher level professors in the English department that I know only find informative but a pleasure to have are Dr. Hester, Dr. Stein, Dr. Hooker, Dr. Marchi, and Dr. MacKethan, who is a simply a wonderful woman to boot! The professors who are knowledgable but very unlikable, bordering on mean are Dr. Baines and Dr. Katz. The professors who just do a terrible job lecturing and staying on the subject and basically just confuse their students with their scattered teaching style are Dr. Myers and Dr. Holley."
