"She is a pretty good teacher, but sometimes let's her feminist side bias her views. She is fair, and her essay tests allow you to write down just about anything you learned and still be ok. She has lots of class discussion."

Spring98 "I would like to say that I remember the student who submitted the information on me. He disregarded an explicit policy on my syllabus which states that signing the class roll and then leaving class without notifying me beforehand constitutes cheating. If students really feel enforcing the few rules I have in the classroom is not important, then they should NOT take my course. I can assure all students thinking about taking my course that I DID NOT reprimand the student because I was pregnant. I reprimanded behavior that violated the classroom guidelines for cheating! I think this kind of information is useful to students so long as the forum is NOT used as a way to gripe without justification. Thank you for your consideration of my input.

Fall97-"This lady is very good. There is alot of class interaction, and not very many notes. Her tests are of a medium difficulty level, and you must know definitions. She likes what she's doing so that enthusiasm flows to the student. I formed many opinions in this class, and changed a few that I thought were in stone. I recommend her to anyone."

"What a stinker! He gives you everything you'll ever need to know in a course-pack, then he strictly enforces attendance. So, you sit there in class reading the notes, which he puts on a overhead and reads verbatim. Totally pointless... He makes a few bad jokes now & then, but that's not quite enough to make class worth going to. The Class is an easy credit, it's just too bad that you have to sit through it..."
Spring98 "Greenstein went to a lot of work to get the lecture notes prepared. Most students find that having the notes allows them to really think about the important issues that Greenstein raises in class. I wish more faculty would go to this much effort to help us learn the material!"

"She is good about explaining things, however her test require much memorization. Tests are not really big concepts but small pieces of information."

Spring 98 "My grade in the class was A.
She is a very understanding teacher and her class is very easy. She tells you what will be on the test. The class consists of reading articles and discussing them in class. No homework, one short paper, 3 tests. The class is Social Deviance so you study stuff like weird sexual practices, gay people, drugs, and stuff. I found it interesting, even though it disturbed me."

"She can not teach at all. All she did was get in front of the class and ramble about useless facts. The only good thing about her class was the fact that since her tests were so hard and foolish, she had to curve everyone's grade at the end of the semester."
Spring 98 "My grade in the class was B.
She is a nice lady, but an extremely bad teacher. Her lectures don't have any structure and have very little to do with the tests. We had 3 tests in my class. The first two were very badly written and not representative of the material we covered in class. Every one complained so much that for the third test she copied passages right out of the book -- fill in the blank stuff. Really bad, really boring."

Spring 98 "My grade in the class was B.
Dr. Thomson was a very enthusiastic and personable professor. He was very fair in all aspects of his grading, and allowed plenty of opportunities to pull up a low grade. He scheduled occasional films that were good for a break, but not so many that the class became boring. The class also included several interesting in-class projects that usually were very helpful as well as entertaining. Dr. Thomson was always calm and completely unintimidating. I always felt comfortable enough to ask questions in class. He was also genuinely interested in the subject matter we discussed in class."
